Case Study No. 1

HGI performed an in-depth insurance portfolio analysis for a Bethesda, Maryland real estate investment firm. Insured Real Property Limits were found to be higher than actual replacement cost values, creating a situation of over-insurance. Business Income Coverage was also over-insured. Building Ordinance Coverage was not provided by the program, while an exposure was evident at a number of locations. Estimated exposures for General Liability rating revealed incorrect premium charges and Electronic Data Processing Data and Media were found to be underinsured by $380,000.

After the client’s review of the analysis, The Hudson Group was engaged to implement its recommendations into Bid Specifications and administer the process. Coverages were significantly expanded and the renewing insurance portfolio resulted in an overall premium reduction of 48%.
